having a chest of 36" and expansion of 2". He was wounded on 10th July 1918 and gassed in August 1918 whilst serving in France. He received a suspended prison sentence of 18 months on 23rd October 1918. In 1917 he received several prison sentences for stealing a watch, goods from a comrade and misconduct. He then had a trial but was found not guilty of desertion from 17th November 1918 to 7th December 1918 but sentenced to 90 days for absence without leave.
